Bernadette Peters (born Bernadette Lazzara, born on February 28, 1948) was an American performer and actress as well as a children's book author from Ozone Park Queens New York . In her five decades of professional career performing on stage, she's appeared in musicals and television as well as solo concerts and recorded albums. She has received seven Tony Awards nominations, two that she took home as well as eight Drama Desk Awards. 4 of her Broadway cast albums on which she has starred have won Grammy Awards. Peters started her acting career performing on stage during the 1960s when she was a teenager, and later in the 1970s, she worked in TV and in film. Alongside her roles in The Muppet Show, The Carol Burnett Show, and in other TV work she also received praise for her roles she been in Annie and Silent Movie.
