Amanda Brugel

People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that there is a separate island west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short time in the city was not. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She wanted to become professional, however because of a huge growth spurt she outgrew the dance partners she had. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet 1 inches." After I outgrew the male counterparts, I gave up. Many former dancers turn into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher which pushed her in the right direction. The teacher recommended that she take part in an audition for the annual school play. After trying out, she ended up as the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Over the last 20 years, Brugel's work has been seen on the small and large screen. Her work gained most recognition when she landed her character of Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
